National Jamboree 2001 - BJS

jambo010012.JPG The bus ride to the Jamboree lasted about 10 hours. On the way there, we spent the night on the bus.	jambo010014.JPG We arrived at the McDonald's where we would eat breakfast about an hour before they opened. Every morning, there was a flag raising and some sort of entertainment.
jambo010087.JPG Another Action Center activity was archery.	jambo010089.JPG Each day, lunch was served at one of the kiosks located around the Jamboree. All participants were given one lunch ticked for each day. This was the first Jamboree where lunch was done this way, and it seemed to work very well.	jambo010105.JPG The Miami Valley Council gateway once it was set up.
jambo010109.JPG Breakfast and Dinner meals were cooked by each Patrol. The goal was to spend as little time on this activity as possible to maximize the time left for the fun stuff.	jambo010121.JPG One popular activity at the Jamboree is patch trading. Many Scouts set up shop on the side of the road.	jambo010123.JPG The Jamboree even had its own radio station. The morning show often went on the road, and spend part of one morning in our subcamp.
jambo010134.JPG Merit Badge Midway offered Scouts an opportunity to explore over 80 merit badges. There were many that the Scouts could earn during the week, and many were taught by experts in their field.	jambo010167.JPG One of the bands that performed at the first arena show was "Three of Hearts". The band is made up of three young women. It was the highlight of the Jamboree for many Scouts.	jambo010181.JPG Getting settled in the arena for the first show. It took a while to get everyone in the arena. Whil waiting, numerous entertainers performed on the stage.
